Day 3
The Shame of Weakness
Read: Judges 6:11-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Philippians 1:20
SOAP: Judges 6:12
The angel of the Lord appeared and said to him, “The Lord is with you, courageous warrior!”
Philippians 1:20
My confident hope is that I will in no way be ashamed but that with complete boldness, even now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether I live or die.
God had a big calling for Gideon, but Gideon did not feel up to the task. He was overwhelmed by his weakness and his limitations. How could he do all God asked of him? I am sure we have all felt that way at some point.
We are called to do hard things, from parenting, to marriage, to friendship, to living a godly life in an ungodly world. All these things are challenging and reveal our weaknesses and limitations. We can approach anything He asks of us with confidence, knowing He is with us and has already gone before us.
God promised to be with Gideon, and He promises the same for us. He is with us to give us strength when we feel weary, to give us wisdom when we do not know what we should do. He is close so we can cry out to Him, praise Him, and express our confusion. He is always there, always ready to help and always ready to comfort.
Lord, you are always close to me, yet I forget. I do not truly understand what this means, but I can trust you. Help me to see the gift of your nearness. Help me to find my strength in You so I can do the things You have called me to do with confidence. Amen.
