Ruth 3:12-13

12 And now it is true that I am a redeemer. Yet there is a redeemer nearer than I.13 Remain tonight, and in the morning, if he will redeem you, good; let him do it. But if he is not willing to redeem you, then, as the Lord lives, I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.”

 SOAP: Ruth 3:12-13

Boaz is a man of honor, and rather than rashly respond out of emotion, he makes a rational choice that protects Ruth and ensures she will be provided for as God intends. He understands that compromise and cutting corners will not be blessed by God, so he waits until morning and follows the protocols God has outlined for the kinsman redeemer.

If we grow impatient with God’s timing and directives, we end up making impulsive decisions from the flesh, rather than waiting for the leading of the Spirit. God’s ways are always better than ours. If we choose to honor Him, He will make a way for us just as He did for Ruth and Boaz.

Lord God, help us to trust Your timing and honor You with our choices. May we always follow Your leading and never run ahead of Your will for us.  Amen.

  1. Just a random question, I always assumed that Ruth was very beautiful. Do you think that Boaz struggled with temptation when she was there that night? The Bible recorded he acted honorably, but do you think he could have been struggling on the inside? If he was, his godly response is a wonderful example of what God had done in his life and how much he loved God.
