Week 6

Monday

Reading: John 20:1-10; John 11:25-26

SOAP: John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

After Lazarus died, his sister Martha displayed great faith. When Jesus arrived in Bethany, Martha went out to meet Him. There, Jesus posed a question of faith for Martha saying, “the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Martha expressed her faith in the resurrection on the last day and her faith in Jesus, that He was indeed the Christ, the Son of God. What she wasn’t expecting was how the power of Christ and the power of the resurrection was going to change her life at that moment.

Martha’s faith allowed her to see how the resurrection would change her eternity. She believed she would see her brother, Lazarus, again. But the power of the resurrection changed Martha, her sister Mary, her brother Lazarus, and their entire town on that day when they all witnessed Lazarus being raised from the dead.

The resurrection changes our eternity and our current circumstance in ways we could never expect. All we need to experience its power is faith in Jesus. He does all the rest.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your incredible power displayed in the resurrection. I believe that I will never die because I believe in You. I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God and that I will be raised again with You on the last day. Amen.
