Devotional: Mark W6D5

Day 5

Reading: Mark 16

SOAP: Mark 16:5–6

Then as they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been raised! He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.”

Where is your faith? When it seemed all hope had been lost, the greatest miracle of all took place. When Jesus’ followers felt they misplaced their faith, they were astounded by what they found. Their faith in Jesus was not misplaced. He had been raised!

Over and over again Jesus showed who He was. His resurrection should have been no surprise; He told His followers many times what would happen to Him. He had shown, with His life and death, He was indeed the Son of God. Now, after His resurrection, there would be no doubt.

Jesus continued to show care and compassion for each of His people. He comforted the women, having an angel tell them what happened. He restored all His disciples, the men who abandoned Him at His arrest, including even Peter, to Himself. And He ensured the message and truth of His resurrection would reach the world, you and me, today. We have the privilege today to continue spreading the greatest message in history: He has been raised!

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me. Thank You for defeating death and living today and every day! Help me live for You, place my faith in You, and be sure every day of who You are: The Son of God. Amen.
