Friday- God is good to all

Read: Psalm 145:8-9; Titus 2:11

SOAP: Psalm 145:8-9

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” – Psalm 145:8-9

What a journey! Have you enjoyed these four weeks in the book of Jonah? Now that we have studied it in depth, I bet you already know that this book is not about a great fish, a repentant city, or even a disobedient prophet. This book is about God, His will, and how we respond to it.

We end this study having learned beautiful lessons about God´s character:

He is slow to anger.

His love endures forever.

He is all mercy and grace.

He doesn´t want anybody to perish.

He is patient.

He loves everybody.

And so much more!

In Psalm 145, David remembers the description of Yahweh in Exodus 34: “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth (Exodus 34:6).” He is good to all, not to Israel only, but to all mankind, whose hearts he fills with gladness

The God who created us shows mercy to His creation, to those who think they deserve it and to those who don´t. And because of His grace, He has brought salvation to all people. You don’t go out and get salvation; it comes to you and you can choose to receive it. All find salvation only by the grace of God.

How can you relate to Jonah and God´s treatment toward him? How can you live a life that displays, without a doubt, God´s grace and mercy toward you? How can you make a difference by pointing others to Jesus and the salvation they can find in Him?

Dear God, my heart is full of all what I´ve learned from You and Your love for me. Help me remember to live in a way that honors You and to obey Your commands always. Amen.
