Tuesday / Protecting Them
Read: Psalms 5:7-12
SOAP: Psalms 5:11-12
But may all who take shelter in you be happy. May they continually shout for joy. Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice. Certainly you reward the godly, Lord. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.
Into the Text
Sweet sister,
As mothers, one of our most profound roles is to be protectors – not just physically but emotionally and spiritually. Though every family needs to decide what boundaries they will have in place, we may protect our children from bad influences, certain films, social media, or other worldly things. While this is an important part of motherhood, we can also create a place where our children can go to find safety, peace, and unconditional love, a place where grace is given and forgiveness extended.
Our homes become retreats where hearts can be open and free, where laughter echoes, and tears are gently wiped away. It’s in this sacred space that our children learn to be themselves, to explore, to grow, and to feel treasured. It’s a place where they don’t have to be perfect to be perfectly loved.
So, let’s be intentional about making our homes a reflection of God’s love and protection. This doesn’t mean we can shield them from every hardship, but we can be the arms that embrace them, the ears that listen to their worries, and the voice that speaks truth and love into their lives.
In creating this special place of belonging, we mirror the heart of our Heavenly Father, who is our ultimate refuge and shield. He is the one who is our ultimate Protector. He covers us with His love and grace, and in turn, we extend that same protective love to our children.
Let’s pray for wisdom and strength to be the guardians of their souls, guiding them, comforting them, and showing them the way to take shelter in the loving arms of God.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank You for entrusting me with these children. Help me to create a home that is a haven of Your love and protection. Give me the wisdom and strength to guard, guide, and nurture my children in the way that leads them closer to You. Amen.
