READ –  Luke 1:46-56     46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord ,47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy,
55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
 56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house.

 SOAP – Luke 1:46-49

 God sends the angel Gabriel to announce Christ’s birth to Mary.  He appears in this young girl’s life, tells her she is highly favored, and speaks blessings upon her life and the life of her Son. When Mary is told that the impossible would happen in her life, her response is simple, “Let it be to me according to your word.”  There was no arguing, no resistance, no urge to request details or signs. Simply calm acceptance.

In what circumstance might God be attempting to stretch your life? In what situation might you be resisting or missing God’s extraordinary presence?  When a believer’s faith falters, she can rest in the promise that God wants to do great things in her life. When we seek God faithfully, we will find Him even in the most mundane and ordinary situations.

Father God, You are the God of all of my possibilities and my impossibilities. Create in me, Lord, a heart like Mary’s that yields to you. I desire a heart which will, in faith, calmly accept miracles being entrusted to me.  When You attempt to stretch my narrow existence and bless me, Lord, hinder any resistance that I have to changes and challenges. Lord, prevent my desire for comfort, contentment, or convenience from keeping me from receiving the impossible in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
