Romans 7:18-19

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.  19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.

SOAP –  Romans 7:18

The Christian life is a battle. Every Christian will have the desire, led by the Holy Spirit, to do what is right. While at the same time, she will have a continual struggle with sin that dwells within her.  However, our continual struggle with sin is often the only evidence that the Holy Spirit is working fiercely on our behalf.

What sin do you find yourself struggling with?  When faced with struggles, we must draw closer to Jesus and depend solely on Him for every spiritual victory.  We must trust that Christ’s work on the cross was final and complete. Sin has no power in the life of the believer.

Father God, I thank You for the Holy Spirit who fights fiercely on my behalf against the self-seeking desires that rage within me. Help me to cling to You, Lord, when I sense the struggle. Remind me that You will have the final victory over sin, because You are alive in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
