Reading: Luke 1:39-56

SOAP: Luke 1:46-50

And Mary said, “My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Savior, because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant. For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name; from generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.

This family visit was not like any family visit in history. Can you imagine the conversation between Mary and Elizabeth regarding their miraculous pregnancies? Elizabeth told Mary that those who believe that the Lord will fulfill His promises are blessed.

Mary certainly believed and was overcome with so much awe that she broke out in praise. She did not know she would give birth in a stable or escape a king who wanted to kill her baby. She was unaware of the hard road her son would travel or the sorrow she would experience as she watched Him mocked, beaten, and killed.

She did know that she had been chosen to care for the Son of God and that God would keep every single promise He made to her, including that He would be with her and help her.

Lord, the way You worked all things together in history so these two women would experience the miracle of their pregnancies is amazing. Help us to remember that Your hand is on our lives as well and we have Your undivided attention. Help us to find joy in all circumstances because You are with us.
