Devotional: Draw Near W3D5

Friday

Read – Matthew 24:35, Psalm 19:7-9

SOAP – Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

In Matthew 24, Jesus described the signs of the last times. He talked about a coming famine and earthquake, about suffering, persecution, and false prophets, and His coming on the clouds to gather His people. He underscores the certainty of the signs with these words. He claimed that His predictions had the same authority and eternal validity as God’s words!

What is eternal? Only God’s word and the souls of people. It would be wise and worth our time to invest in these things with our lives. What things do you have in your life that are a draw on your time and resources but are temporary and passing? How can you invest your life in the two things that will last for all of eternity?

Lord Jesus, thank You that Your Word is eternal. Help us to invest our lives in things that truly matter. Help us to fix our eyes not one what is seen, but on what is unseen. Give us the wisdom and strength we need to live with purpose and to make a difference in Your eternal kingdom. Amen.
