Hebrews 2:14-18 English Standard Version (ESV)
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

SOAP: Hebrews 2:17-18
We have a sympathetic Savior who faced temptation and understands the difficulties of living in a broken world. He endured opposition, insults, persecution, and betrayal, but He stayed faithful to the Father. Christ was focused on the joy set before Him as He went to the cross to pay the price for our sins. Now, His resurrection power provides daily grace and strength to help us walk in victory. As our Intercessor, He hears our cries for mercy and rises to our defense when we are in need of forgiveness.
Jesus understands the mental anguish required to say no to sin. When we wrestle with sin, He stands in the gap on our behalf. When we fall, He picks us up and applies the healing balm of forgiveness. Fall down before His throne of grace today and ask Him to empower you to say no to any defeating patterns of sin in your life.
Father, thank You for Your amazing grace. Help us to turn from sin and run into Your protective embrace today. Thank You for never giving up on us. Amen.
