Week 5 Day 3
Wednesday – Brave to use your gifts
READ: 1 Peter 4:8-10; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
SOAP: 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” – 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
My daughter invited some of her friends to a sleepover at our home recently. After the girls ate pizza and put on their pajamas, I saw them congregating around our piano. I was in the other room when suddenly I notice their giggles had quieted and instead I heard music and singing. When I looked in to see what the girls were up to, it was beautiful. One girl was playing the piano, three other girls were singing in harmony, two girls were doing an improv lyrical dance, and another girl was taking a video of it all. I was witnessing God’s unique gifts!
It is like that with spiritual gifts: there are different ways God works in all of us. We have all been blessed by God with a unique gift or talent so that we can help each other and make a difference in the world. When we use our gifts bravely, God is glorified and we are unified. Just like the girls in my living room, the gifts we are given work together to accomplish God’s purpose. All of our gifts are different, but the same Spirit is the source. Our act of bravery is to be joyful in using the gifts God gave us!
Heavenly Father, thank You for the unique gifts You’ve given me. Thank You for opportunities to use my gifts to glorify You and to help others. Show me what it’s like when we all use our different gifts to serve You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Wow! So beautifully written. Thank you!
