Week 2 Day 4
Thursday – Brave in uncertainty
READ: Matthew 6:25-34; Matthew 11:28-30
SOAP: Matthew 11:28-30
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’” – Matthew 11:28-30
There is so much comfort and encouragement in these verses. It’s an open invitation from Jesus Himself, calling us in our weary condition to lay down what’s weighing us down and trade it for rest for our souls. When we are faced with uncertainties in life, when we are weary and overwhelmed, isn’t that exactly what we need? Someone to lighten our load? Jesus promises to be that Someone. “Let me teach you,” He says, leading us to know Him deeper so that we can take hold of that promise. He wants us to understand the peace and rest that only He can give so that we can be brave in uncertain situations. We might not know what tomorrow holds, but we can know with certainty Who holds our tomorrows. We can come to Him to find our rest. We can be brave in uncertainty.
Dear God, help me to find my rest in You. Thank You for the invitation to rest in Your Presence when I am weary and burdened. Heavenly Father, I trust You in every situation, in every season. Thank You for the strength and courage to face uncertainties. Amen.
The words to the song What a friend we have in Jesus… kept running through my mind. Good lesson. Thanks!
