WEEK 3

Monday

Read – Matthew 5:6

SOAP – Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

The things that we desire shape our whole lives. Whether it’s wealth, power, reputation, or intelligence, the primary desire in our life will drive everything else we do. If we want wealth above all else, we will steal or deceive to get it. If we want power above all else, we will trample over other people or exploit them to get it. When we want God’s righteousness above all else, we will seek to align our lives with His truth.

And God promises we will be satisfied! While these other pursuits will inevitably leave us empty and frustrated, our relentless pursuit of righteousness will be successful. We will, ultimately, be satisfied because God will usher in the age of redemption, restoration, and righteousness. In a fallen world, however, our desire for righteousness will often go unsatisfied. Rather than giving up in frustration, God promises that those who keep on hoping, hungering, and thirsting after righteousness will eventually be satisfied.

God, thank You for your promises! Thank you that you have promised that, if we desire Your righteousness, we will be satisfied. Help me to want Your goodness and truth above everything else.
