2 Timothy 2:14-19 SOAP: 2:14-15
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Arguments don’t win people over. Instead, pray and ask God to move in those individual’s hearts. Our job is to know God’s Word and to teach it accurately. To know God’s Word, we need to be in God’s Word. If you are struggling to find time to be in God’s Word or lack the desire, go to God for help. Ask Him to create a desire in your heart to read His Word and a passion to know Him more. If you struggle to understand what you read sometimes, that’s okay! Remember that God is always with you and is eager to help. Ask Him to help you understand what you read; to find the treasures of truth that you can apply to your life.
Dear Jesus,
Create in me a greater passion to be in Your Word. Help me to make time to be with You each day – not out of obligation, but out of joy and love for You. As I read Your Word, help me to understand Your truth and apply it to my life. Amen.
