1 Timothy 5:1-10 SOAP: 5:1-2, 4

1 Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.

4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.

SOAP

We reflect our love for God in how we treat our family members – those in our homes and our churches. Instead of looking through the lens of critique, let’s start today by looking for ways we can build them up with our words. Let’s show them we value our time with them by investing in quality relationships and encouraging them with our presence. Let’s model for the next generation our gratitude for those who have served us by serving, loving, and caring for them. Love always makes a person stronger and stand a little taller. What could happen if we determined to love well today?

Dear Jesus,

Place Your love in my heart for those in my immediate family and those who are in the body of Christ. Help me to model to those around me the importance of treating everyone with love and respect. Give me opportunities to serve my family and show them Your love. Amen.
