Friday
Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
SOAP: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.”
Paul comforts the believers in Thessalonica by communicating that Christ will return for His children. Those who put their faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins and die before Christ’s return will be resurrected first at the sound of the trumpet. Finally, believers who are alive will be raptured and meet Christ in the air.
The reality of Christ’s return should comfort us when we lose a loved one who is a Christ follower. We do not grieve without hope – because we know that we will be reunited on the glorious day of Christ’s return. Any trouble or sorrow we are facing today will fade from view the minute we see His face.
Father, thank You for the hope of heaven. Help me to live with my eyes fixed on eternity. Amen
