Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
SOAP: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.”
Paul is giving the believers in Thessalonica practical instruction on how to walk worthy, and he sets the standard high without making any excuses for sin. Paul challenges us to live set apart from the world. Sexual purity is not an option for the Christ follower – it’s a requirement.
Holy lives are pleasing to God – we are here to glorify Him, not gratify our flesh and our own selfish interests. Are you yielding your all to God, or are you making excuses for following the way of the world? We honor God when we fully offer Him all of our desires and every inch of our hearts.
Father, I offer You all of me. I want to please You more than make myself momentarily happy. Help me to pursue holiness in my mind, In my actions, and in my interactions with others. Give me strength to say no to myself and yes to You. Amen.
