Today’s verses are the very heart of what Love God Greatly has been in my own life, and what we strive to be and to create for the community of women around the globe. Hebrews 10:24–25 says:
“And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works, not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.”
Angela Perritt is the purest example of this in my own life. She is the friend who unabashedly encourages me and who consistently speaks truth into my life. She reminds me of my gifts and my talents when I have forgotten them. She provides wise counsel. She prays for me, whether I ask her to or not. I am better, and my walk with Jesus is stronger, because of her.
Despite being scattered across the globe and despite our cultural differences, I hope you find such community within Love God Greatly or within your own church or community. Having a group (or one friend) who seeks wisdom from Scripture will help ground you and guide you. Having someone to encourage you will build your confidence and inspire you. Having someone to pray with you and to pray for you is priceless. Shared experiences and shared beliefs will help you both develop enduring faith.
We have every assurance that we can draw near to God and that we have intimate, direct access through Jesus. Hebrews 10:22–23 beautifully says:
“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings . . . and let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.”
For all the things about this world that are broken or unstable, our salvation through Jesus Christ is rock solid. Let’s cling to that truth in our own lives, and let’s be intentional about encouraging and fostering the faith of our friends.
