Empowered: Yesterday and Today

When did you first hear about Jesus? Have you ever thought about how the story of a man from Jerusalem, who lived over two-thousand years ago, reached your ears?

The message of the gospel is not simply a story: it is the Good News the world had been waiting for. The message of the gospel is the hope of eternal life through belief in Jesus Christ.

Those who walked with Jesus during His earthly ministry believed in Him. They believed He was the Son of God, the One who died to take away the sins of the world and the One who holds eternal life for those who place their faith in Him. These men and women died for the message of Jesus. They were witnesses to His life, death, and resurrection, and they let nothing stop them from telling the world about Him.

God empowered the early church day in and day out. He was with them in trials, with them in victory, and with them in doubt. God had a mission for the early church and He guided them every step of the way.

Because of their faithfulness, we have heard the truth of the gospel. Because of their perseverance, we can know of the saving work of Jesus Christ. And because of their example, we are empowered with the gospel message.

Empowered: Yesterday and Today is a deep study of the book of Acts. As we study the early church and the spread of the gospel we hope to find encouragement and strength to continue spreading the message of the gospel in our spheres of influence. God empowered the early church to share the gospel every single day, and He does the same for us, even now.
