What does God require of us? It’s a question we all struggle with, believing there must be something for us to do that will win God’s approval, once and for all. All God asks for is our faith.

Abram believed the Lᴏʀᴅ, and the Lᴏʀᴅ credited it as righteousness to him. – Genesis 15:6

God has always only asked for our faith. He asked Adam and Eve to believe His commands were good and worth following. He asked Noah to trust Him and build an ark to save his family. And He asked Abram to leave his home and his family and go to the land God would show him.

Today, God asks us to place our faith in the saving work of His Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation and our every need. He asks us to trust Him with our eternity and our daily lives. When we believe Jesus died to save us from our sin and we obey His commands, we walk in faith. God does not demand our perfection; He desires that we walk in faith with Him.

When we waiver in our understanding of what God asks of us, we can study the lives of God’s people and look to the examples of their faith. Faith over Perfection looks at the lives of faith of Abram (later named Abraham) and his son Isaac. Abraham was not perfect. God gave him a great promise, but Abraham had plenty of moments where his actions did not align with his faith. God credited Abraham as righteous long before He required anything but faith from him.
