Who am I? Why am I here? Do I matter? 

These are questions we have all asked at one time or another. As we go through life we long to understand who we are, why we were created, and what our purpose is in life. None of these questions can be answered without understanding what our identity is. 

Without knowing our identity, we cannot live in the way we were designed to live. It is easy to define our identity by our family, career, friends, hobbies, or nationality. We often determine our identity by our actions, words, or reputation. 

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

In Christ, we have only one identity that matters. No matter how we define ourselves, our identity in Christ remains the same. He has rescued us from sin, delivered us from darkness, and redeemed us from shame. Through Him we are called God’s children, adopted into the family of God, and given citizenship in Christ’s Kingdom. In Christ, we are saved, sealed, forgiven, chosen, blessed, and empowered. 

In Jesus You Are: Understanding Your Identity in Christ is a four-week Bible study on our identity in Christ. By focusing on the truth of who we are in Jesus, what He has given us through His sacrifice, and how we are sealed as God’s children, we can understand our true identity. As we grow in our faith we can grow in our assurance and confidence of who we are in Him.
