What are you waiting for today? What do you hope God will do for you? What desires or longings in your life are you trying to meet through your own strength?

We are all waiting for or hoping for something. We live in a broken world, and our longings remind us that something, or Someone, greater is coming.

Whether we recognize it or not, we are all ultimately waiting for the return of Jesus Christ, our eternal King. Even if we can temporarily meet our longings ourselves, we are ultimately always hoping for more—for true fulfillment that comes only through Christ.

“He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.” – Luke 1:32–33

Advent is a season of waiting, remembering, and rejoicing. We wait for Christ’s return, celebrating His first coming even as we wait and long for His return. We remember the brokenness of our world and how He will bring restoration and wholeness when He comes. And we praise Him, remembering the joy we have as we place our hope in Christ. The God Who Restores Bible study journal leads us through the season of Advent, a season of waiting and great expectation for our eternal King.
