Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love. – Psalm 106:44-45

Verse 11 of today’s reading compares Ephraim (Israel) with a dove, silly and without sense. The reason for this comparison is in verse 10: the Israelites were too proud to return to God and seek Him.

Pride is one of the main reasons we walk away from people. They do something we don´t like, or they don´t do things as we expected, and our pride gets on the way of our friendship, our relationship, our marriage. That happens in our relationship with God too.

Maybe pride is the reason why you´re not feeling close to the Lord anymore. Sometimes we don´t know exactly why, but we notice our relationship with God is not the same as it was before. Maybe He didn´t answer your prayers as you wished. Maybe His timing has led you to distrust His will for your life.

Let me remind you today that He remembers His covenant. He remembers His promises to you. All of them. He is not the one who walked away. He´s still there, as He was yesterday, and He will be tomorrow, waiting for you to seek His face.

Abba, thank You for Your steadfast love. Thank You for Your mercy. Thank You that there is no promise made to me that You will forget to fulfill. I want to trust You with all my heart. Don’t let my pride to get in the way. Amen.
