“He was given over because of our transgressions and raised for the sake of our justification.” – Romans 4:25
Up until this time, the whole of humanity groped in darkness and condemnation because of our sins. The multitude of sacrifices in all cultures of the world and primitive religion across the nations could not atone for the sins of humanity or provide a way of escape from sin. The more the sacrifice, the more people went deeper and deeper into agony, pain, and sorrow with no hope in view.
In his divine wisdom and plan God provided a solution that transcends all cultures; from primitive Africa to the most civilized America, to the palatial homes of royalty in the middle east, God provided a solution. This solution was incubated in heaven and executed on planet earth. It had never entered the heart of any human. The solution was Jesus; the supreme sacrifice, the sacrifice of all sacrifice.
The idea was from God, not humans. It was not religious or from political councils. It was divine in nature and execution. It was the only solution that could appease God because of our sins. It was the highest price, the sacrifice of all sacrifices. Once and for all paid for our salvation. The purpose of Jesus’ death is for our salvation.
The final result is that we no longer have to perish in our sins or struggle with them anymore. We now have eternal salvation. No government policy or United Nations program can achieve this: only God in Christ Jesus paid the supreme price for the eternal liberation of humanity from the eternal shackles of sin, once and for all.
He did not remain dead so we don’t have to remain in our sins. He was raised up. That same power is available to raise up the vilest of all sinners. There is hope to raise us up. That power that raised Jesus is still alive to work in us, bringing all sinners to life. It should be noted that men and women have made efforts before Jesus to make themselves right with God. Many still do today, but all in vain. Our hope is not in human efforts but in God’s sacrifice, Jesus Christ. I appeal to you, if you haven’t yet, make the move to accept Jesus.
Today we can boldly say this power that God displayed in raising Jesus from the dead is available to all who will come to Him saying, Lord here I am, forgive all my sins, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.
