Hello ladies,
Greetings from here in Uganda. My heart is full as I share with you today.
Can’t see the video? Click here.Â
We are in verses Psalm 119:73-80 today and there is so much richness in these verses. I’m not going to be able to cover all of them, so I want to camp on just a few.
Verses 76-77 say this: “Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant. Let your mercy come to me that I may live. For your law is my delight.”
The Psalmist is crying out to God for His favor. As we saw in verse 75, he owned God’s justice for his affliction – which is a big deal – and is now asking God for His mercy.
God’s steadfast love is a comfort. It is THE comfort {verse 76}. As the Matthew Henry commentary says, “Gracious souls fetch all their comfort from a gracious God, as the fountain of all happiness and joy.”
I love that word comfort!
Then it goes on… “For your law is my delight.” God’s word becomes a delight- a comfort to our souls.
So let me ask you:
Where are you turning for comfort? Is it giving you lasting and true satisfaction? Or as Dr. Phil would say, “How’s that workin’ for ya?”
My challenge for this week is this: Turn your heart back to the Lord and His steadfast love. Ask Him for His blessed mercy and experience His steadfast love as you read and meditate on His Word.Â
With Love From Uganda,
Week 4 Challenge:
Turn your heart back to the Lord and His steadfast love. Ask Him for His blessed mercy and experience His steadfast love as you read and meditate on His Word.
Week 4 Memory Verse:
Week 4 Reading Plan:
I thank you for your word this morning. I need God comfort in my life, and am struggling with my afflictions this morning, and I am happy to know that God will have mercy on me and give me comfort. I must first believe that he will have mercy and give me comfort so that I can move closer to his love for me. Please pray for me today as I precede to move further to God Kingdom.
God Bless All,
Kimbly
I have a hearing problem and this lady has a very sweet but soft voice, and I had problems hearing all she said. However, I look forward each day to getting into this passage and am loving the study, and knowing I am doing this with other sisters is a great encouragement.
I am so sorry that you had a hard time hearing me. I will talk louder next time, I promise. The good news is that pretty much everything I said, I typed out in the post today. 🙂 Blessings to you!!
Thank you for sharing this scripture this morning Joy. ..just what I needed this morning. God is so good!
Et pour la statistique « par tee0pnbs&;»̷t;je doute que le 47% fait beaucoup! Ce chiffre est plutot la mesure de la 53% certainement–ceux qui paie les impots.

Thanks for inviting us into your sacred space this morning! I also have a sacred space for my time with Jesus…but now all I need is a rooster! 😉
Tanya
You are so welcome! Thanks for joining me! 🙂
The LGG studies have brought such peace and comfort to my life. Structure too, which is something new to me.
Daily I feast at this table spread for me – goodness, mercy, blessings, healng, comfort, forgiveness and so much more – and just as David, I count my blessings!
Being able to freely and willingly find time to study God’s word, meditate on his precepts and carry out his commands is such a gift to myself.
Have a wonderful week, friends!
Sheila, I am so glad to be on this journey together with you! Thank you for your encouragement.

This was just beautiful. This is my first online study and I was not sure if I would be able to stick with it, but I have actually looked forward to it every morning. I am learning so much. Thank you for this. I love how peaceful it looked there in Uganda. Looks like a place I would love to bring my family and visit. Seeing how peaceful it was convicted me with how much we rely on gadgets, electronics and such these days and God really laid it on my heart to slow down, focus on Him, seek Him. Loved hearing the birds and roosters =)
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for joining me today. 🙂 You are welcome to come over and visit anytime.
Oh Joy! I felt like I was there with you, thank you for letting us enter your place 🙂 Just the words I needed to start my week. Love and prayers to you!!!

Thank you for sharing such a serene and peaceful place! Loved hearing the birds and roosters! Such peaceful sounds to bask and relax in God’s Word. Loved and was so encouraged by what you shared today. It is so important to find that quiet time and comfort with God and to nourish ourselves with his nuggets of truth.

Joy,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful verandah with us this morning! I have wanted to go to Africa for decades and I hope to make it within the next few years. Thanks also for your challenge: it dovetails well with what I know I need to do.
Nicola, Praying for God to work out plans for an African visit if it is right. Thank you for taking time to comment.

This is my first online study too and wasn’t sure I would like it, but I knew I needed to have some structure to ensure I would have some quiet time with the Lord. I am a teacher and for nine months I run and never stop or feel caught up. I work 13 hour days and it takes over my weekends. I stress about anything and everything. I am a perfectionist. I know I can’t continue in this way; it is robbing me of life. So I decided to dedicate my summer to drawing near to the Lord; I need Him to transform my life. Our women at our church decided to do this study. At first, I wasn’t going to participate feeling it would not be very personal or inviting. But, God had another plan; I felt drawn to it even though I resisted. I am enjoying this study and especially everyone’s comments…another thing I said I would not participate in. I would appreciate your prayers as I have tried so many times to change my way of life, but have not succeeded. Thank you LGG and all the women who add life to this study by sharing their own stories and insights! i am thankful God has drawn me in.
Barb,
Isn’t God so awesome! Even when we are ready to give up on ourselves, He is still loving us & drawing us to Himself. I will be praying for you. I have walked the same way of trying & failing to make positive changes in my life. We cannot change ourselves but He can. I find the most change happens when I give that control over to God & say, “Here I am! I can’t change me but You can & I am turning me over to You.”
Joy, thank you for shaing from Uganda! What a joy to be able to share a piece of the morning with you. God’s comfort – what a wonderful place to camp! God bless you!
Donna, We are blessed to have you with us on this journey. Thank you for your encouraging words.

I am loving this study! I am finding myself looking more and more forward to my quiet time and I miss it when it doesn’t happen. Gods word has become very sustaining and reenergizing to me. That’s what my heart was longing for.
I too loved the sounds of nature. This past weekend my family took a little road trip to a state park. It was so so peaceful hiking through the woods and listening to the animals and the waterfalls. At one point we all stopped and closed our eyes and tried to see how many different sounds we could hear, it was so awesome to just slow down and take in th Lord’s creation. We can get so caught up in life that it takes the life out of us. I am learning to find that quiet stillness in the morning with Jesus aNd am learning to seek him throughout the day. My next challenge is to better manage my time so that I can get the rest I need and for us to have more family time that’s focused on growing in the Lord As well.
Lauren, What a beautiful testimony of the blessing of God’s Word and His world. Thank you for taking time to share!

I cannot read the reading plan on the website. It is a big blur. Any suggestions?
Oh Lana, I am sorry that I just saw this. Praying that the Lord worked out technical difficulties for you.

Thank you for your gentle & compssion that came through in your video.
I am just been able to start reading the bible again due to childhood trams that I am now finally having to deal with.
I am hanging onto those verses & the next few verses after that.
So thank you for sharing otherwise I probably wouldn’t have looked.
Bless you
Joyce, So glad to know that God’s Word is a comfort to you again. May He bless you as you read and rest in Him.

Hello joy ,
Thank you so much for the post. This is what I needed to hear . I realize that true comfort can only come from God. Even though I know this , I look to people ( especially my husband), or to other things for comfort like crafting, cleaning , going out to a movie or shopping. Will you please pray for me with getting my priorities right ? I want my true comfort to come from God, I want to be closer with Him and be a doer of His word . Thank you .
Ps I love how you do your study outside, it is so peaceful.
Oh, Miranda – thank you for your honesty! How easy it is to trust in the things we can see & do rather than our loving Heavenly Father. I am right there with you!
Blessings, Amy A, LGG Encourager
