This week we’re celebrating how God is using ONE WOMAN to make a difference for Christ in her nation. Today’s post is written by Edurne Mencia: a wife and mom from Spain who lives in the jungle of Venezuela. She serves God as a missionary to unreached tribes alongside her husband and three young children. Edurne’s passion is to help women live their lives for God. Since 2011, she has been leading LGG Spanish (whose Spanish resources are now in 22 nations!) with a wonderful team of women who work hard to make all LGG resources available to Spanish speaking women.

“This is the first time someone came to teach us.”

My eyes filled with tears.

They wouldn´t move. All the men in the village were standing beside the hut the women were gathering in, waiting for us to end our last meeting for the weekend. But they didn´t want to leave.

They wanted to learn more. They had been so thirsty for so many years, that now they didn´t want to stop drinking of the Living Water.

When you live in a place where most women don´t own a Bible, where they have never been told that they can and must study the Word of God by themselves, you see women treasure what many take for granted.

Love God Greatly resources are filling their need.

It all started with a conversation between Dionisio, the pastor of one of the villages on the Atabapo River, in the part of the jungle where you can see Venezuela on one side of the river and Colombia on the other.

He said to my husband: “Tell your woman to teach our women”.

And I went.

A couple of weeks ago one of our leaders in Colombia told me the story about a group of laborers in a coffee plantation. One of the workers printed one of our studies and she decided that this was exactly what she could use to reach her fellow workers.

None of them own a Bible.

Some of them can´t even read.

But they can hear…

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17

So after their long and hard work day, she would take time to read the verses to the women and to talk about them. Together they found words of life. Community. Hope.

We have a lot of online groups in Spanish, and in most of these groups we have at least one woman who looks around and sees the need and multiplies these resources for the women around her who don´t have access to the internet or don´t own a computer.

Around the world, few Bible study resources are available in the Spanish language. And the ones that do exist are so expensive that women can´t purchase them. At Love God Greatly, we are giving these women quality materials – and because of the many who don´t own a Bible – these resources include the Bible verses they need to accomplish the study.

And we are doing it for free.

Because we firmly believe that every woman deserves to feel loved, nurtured and cared for.

Because we know that when a woman takes the commitment to invest in the life of other women, lives are forever changed with the truth of the gospel.

 Because we dream to transform women, families, communities, and the whole world for Christ!
