Q: How do I get started? 1. Subscribe on our homepage so you won’t miss a thing (tip: don’t forget to activate your subscription)! At the core of our ministry, we want women to grow in community together.  We encourage you to consider becoming a LGG study facilitator.  We are here to provide all the help you need!  Click here to learn more about becoming a facilitator!

Q: Is it really necessary to subscribe to LoveGodGreatly.com? A: Love God Greatly creates specialized Bible reading plans, study journals, and additional resources for each online Bible study that we offer. Subscribing to the website ensures that all LGG blog posts are delivered to your email inbox.  By subscribing, you gain access to our {FREE} study resources in the form of downloadable links, which are provided at the end of each email. Subscribing to LGG is easy, and only needs to be done once.

Q: I was expecting the study journal to be more of a devotional. Is it necessary to print it out for this study? A: No. The study journal is simply a place to record all your thoughts throughout study, and is conveniently broken down into the daily readings. You may use a journal, lined notebook, or even your computer if you wish to save paper. If you choose to print you can keep the study journal together in a binder, or have it coil bound at an office supply store. For your convenience, our study journals are also now available for purchase in soft-back book form.

Q: For LGG Facebook groups: Will everyone on my Facebook friend list be able to view my comments in their news feeds when I post my SOAPs, insights, or prayer requests? A: No. Your posts in your LGG Facebook group will only appear in someone else’s news feed if they are already currently your friend AND they are a member of the group. Group security is set to “Secret”. This is what FB says about this setting: “Non-members can’t find these groups in searches or see anything about the group, including its name and member list. The name of the group will not display on the timelines of members. To join a secret group, you need to be added by a member of the group.”

Q: What does it mean to SOAP? How do I do it properly? A: There is no right or wrong way to SOAP. Check out this page for more details. The basic premise, however, is the following: S– The S stands for Scripture- you physically write out the scripture……you’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you just by taking the time to slow down and actually write out what you are reading! O– The O stands for observation- what do you see in the verses that you’re reading? Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? A– The A stands for Application- this is when God’s Word becomes personal. What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my own personal life? What changes do I need to make? Is there an action that I need to take? P– And finally, P stands for Prayer. Pray God’s Word back to Him. If He has revealed something to you during this time in His Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life.

Q: Life got a little crazy for me; now I am discouraged because I’m behind and I find it intimidating to catch up. Should I just leave my LGG group? A: Of course not! We want to encourage you: you will get more from the study the more involved you are. We know it isn’t always easy to be vulnerable in a group like this, and it is easier for some of us to ‘speak up’ more than it is for others. If you are apprehensive, remember a few things: 1. Everyone here is here to grow in her relationship with God. None of us is perfect. We are all in need of a Savior. 2. You do not have to be eloquent or long winded. 3. Allow room for the Holy Spirit to work. You may have something to say that God wants someone else to hear- please don’t hold back! We also realize that life happens around and often before our study. Please do not view group participation as an obligation, but rather recognize the accountability available to help you grow in your relationship with God. If possible, plan to commit to a once a day check-in. If life happens and you’re not able to follow through, no worries! Start fresh with a new commitment to show up the next day, and then the day after that… etc.

Q: You have asked us to set goals for this study. What are some goals that I should be striving for? A: Your goals can be related to anything in your spiritual life: any habits you desire to pursue, attitudes you wish to change, areas to grow in, the way you interact with others, and so on. You can also add specific goals that you hope to reach through the study itself. Evaluate your goals mid-way through the study by asking yourself, “Is what I’m doing right now related to reaching the goal I have?” If you can answer positively, then you know you’re on the right track.

Q: Can I invite some friends to study with me? A: Absolutely!! You can start by providing them with the following information: What the study is about, the commitment (for example: eight weeks with at least one check-in per week, but with the intent of checking in daily M-F), and a basic explanation of how to SOAP. If you have studied with us before, share your experience and why you think they would benefit from joining.
