The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. – Psalm 23:1-3
If I stay in once place or if I travel alone, and not follow God’s commands, my attempts to sustain myself will never be enough. If I want what I want, I will get what I get. However, if I want what God wants, I will get what not even my best dreams could dream.
We should not put demands on God to give us everything we want right now and consequently forfeit what He wants for us later. We must trust the Shepherd with today so He can lead us to tomorrow. God will lay us down in green pastures and He will lead us beside still waters. His provision will give us life. But He will not raise the grass or the streams to our mouths for us. We have to believe in Him and retrieve it from His bountiful hands. He will continue to restore us each day we follow Him.
Dear Lord, please take our faith in You as our Shepherd and turn it into green pastures where we hunger and still waters where we thirst. Let us be filled by You and fulfilled in You! And let us give You all the glory!
“We must trust the Shepherd with today so He can lead us to tomorrow”. Lord, help me trust my soul to You in all things!
Amen! Sheila, God bless you and thanks for being with us on the blog today.
Angela, I just read your post on how to SOAP, and it is by far the best explanation I’ve read! Thank you! I’ve been soaping as best I could, but it felt incomplete and I couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I see that I can be more observant as I read and write scripture, and that will definitely open my eyes and heart to meaningful application and prayer. I’m so grateful for this blog! God bless you and yours always.
Ceci,
I am so glad you were able to understand the SOAP method better! I agree that is a wonderful way to dig into scripture and get so much more out of it. We are grateful for you too. God bless you and thanks for being with us on the blog today.
