Welcome to our study on Made for Community. I’m so glad you have joined us. I think this will be a great eight week series.
This week we are looking at Made For Community with God.
(Click here if you can’t see week 1 video)
I am an introvert to the core. I LOVE being alone… it energizes me and makes me happy. But even as an introvert I crave meaningful relationships with others. I’m not a hermit.
No matter what kind of person you are, introvert or extravert, you were created for community.
Why is that?
We find the answer in Gen 1:27.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are in community with each other. Before anything was created these 3 persons of the Godhead lived in perfect, deep and fulfilling harmony. Community is a part of his character. You could say that God is community and we have been created to reflect that aspect of his character. This is why we crave being known and knowing others.
The most important relationship you will have in your life is the fellowship you have with God.
Adam and Eve knew what it meant to have perfect communion with God. It is something that we can’t even begin to wrap our brains around because sin has made that impossible.
Thankfully God has made a way to restore our relationship with him (as we read in Ephesians 2). Through Christ we once again have access to God, not as our judge but as our father.
You know the expression better than new? Well, that’s what our relationship with God, through Christ, is like. The fellowship Adam and Eve experienced could be broken (as it obviously ended up becoming). But Christ repaired this broken fellowship with his blood, and therefore it cannot be broken again.
It’s what makes this relationship so precious. It cannot be ruined because you cannot ruin the blood of Christ. It can’t be undone because you cannot undo Christ’s work for you on the cross. Instead it is eternal and comes with blessings upon blessings.
When we study, we need to ask the question “So what?” Why does this matter? Why is community with God so important?
One of the reasons this matters is that all the other circles of community that are important in our lives, like family, church, and friends will be less satisfying and less healthy, they will be weakened and corrupted if it is not anchored in the fellowship we have with God.
Our communion with God equips us for the other relationships in our lives.
Community with God teaches us how to love others, how to forgive painful grievances and how to serve selflessly. In our relationship with Christ, we see what self sacrifice really looks like, how to be humble and what truth is.
Therefore it is of utmost importance that we cultivate our relationship with God.
One of the things I love to do is study theology. Not because I want to accumulate tons of information, but because studying God will cause me to grow in faith and love.
We should never be satisfied with our knowledge of God. The challenge for us this week is to choose one of God’s attributes and spend time studying and reading about that attribute. Choose one that you may not be as familiar with or have not studied before. (Ex. Sovereignty, faithfulness, kindness, omniscience, self existing, impartial, immanent, incomprehensible, mercy, jealousy, justice …)
Looking to Jesus,

Jen, what a perfect overview of the basis of this entire study!! Thank you for leading us so well… you just made me even MORE excited for what’s to come in the next eight weeks!! So blessed by you today…
Love,
Whitney
This is my 4th LGG study and I cannot wait to encounter more of my bible. It has amazed me so far how my life and outlook have changed since connecting with these studies. They are truly remarkable!
Yayyyy, Dwayna! We’re so thankful you’ve been with us so long! I agree, the studies are such a blessing! They take us right to where it matters – THE WORD! Thank you for being a part of our community!!
Blessings, Marlene {LGG Encourager}
Dwayna I feel the same way. The book of Esther back in the fall was my first LGG study and I LOVED it! For the first time ever I sincerely look forward to my Bible reading time each day! This year I have a goal to read the Bible from cover to cover (I actually started on Nov. 15th) and it’s going awesome so far. That reading plan coupled with the current LGG study and the verse of the day on the YouVersion Bible app is how I get in the word daily and it’s been blessing me sooo much!!
Loved the intro! I can completely relate because I’m an introvert too. I love being alone and love to hide in my room and read a good book as opposed to being in a crowd. That being said, I do crave relationships with others and to have a sense of belonging.
Same with me… I like to be alone! Once I get to know someone I’m okay but I don’t like crowds at all!
I was so curious what road this study was going to take. I really like the main points Jen that you brought to light. The number one being that our relationship with God is our most important relationship in our life❤. That is definitly true, all else streams out ftom God as we spend time in his presence. We are molded to love others there in his arms. Over and over we need to go back to him so we can relate correctly to others, so we can forgive others and have the understanding toward others that goes beyond ourselves❤. Thanks for that reminder. Loved all the other points to but this one stood out
I loved that one too, Monica. It’s the most important one! Thank you for stopping by and we hope you’re blessed by this study!
Blessings, Marlene {LGG Encourager}
As always, loving this study! Thank you Christian sisters for taking the time to prepare it for all of us to use. You do amazing work!!!1
God bless
Oh Tony, thank YOU for being a part of this community!

Oh, how much I am looking forward to deepen my passion for the Lord and my relationship with him! I am so thankful for this new study that just began!
Marina, I hope you are blessed by this study!
Blessings, Marlene {LGG Encoruager}
Thanks Jen for such an amazing video! I learned that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are a community! And that God invented community and not us humans. It just makes community and it’s importance so much clearer now! We feel like God is leading our family to start a small family bible group, here in our humble little home. We know there is a need, but as always, cautious to put ourselves out there and make the commitment. So thank you for shining some light on God’s perspective of community.
Even more excited for this study now!!!
God Bless all you hard working ladies 🙂
~Netty
Thank you Netty for sharing those words with us. Praying for you as you prayerfully consider the family Bible group in your community!

This is my third study with you and I can’t wait to dig deeper into the word. Bless you.

I am Simply enjoying the study and want to give a big thumbs up to all the ladies behind this hardwork.
Thank you Priya! Very sweet of you! Glad you are here with us!
Martha, LGG Encourager!
I am looking forward to studying about how I am made for community! This past season I learned what friendship was all about and how important it truly is. I desire to learn more about building the community around me, first and foremost my relationship with God. I am studying how God is a faithful God for the challenge this week! May God bless us all as we dig into His word and fellowship with one another through sharing during this study and in our groups. 🙂
Nicole,
Thank you for sharing your heart with us! I love how uplifting it is and I’m so exciting to dig in to this study and see where God leads me. Glad you are here with us!
